Key Stage 3
Pupils in Key Stage 3 are taught the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, RE and Languages. Additionally, they receive lessons in Creative Subjects (Art and Music); Humanities (Geography and History); Emerging Technologies (ICT and Technology); and Health and Well Being (Physical Education and PSCHE). Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development is embedded across the curriculum.
We aim to meet the needs of all our pupils with a vibrant and exciting curriculum. All departments aim to make the subject curriculum relevant to the lives of our pupils by reflecting on current issues in the world of news, media and popular culture along with input from our great writers and poets. We aim to develop all the skills required for the pupils to access the curriculum in preparation for Key Stage 4 and beyond.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced. We match individual pupil learning styles with a personalised curriculum to meet the needs of 21st Century learners.
Our academic success is routed in a curriculum that focuses on a 'core' provision of facilitating subjects and enriched by additional areas of learning to provide a holistic education that prepares our pupils for their future learning needs.
Facilitating subjects are identified as English, Maths, Science, RE and Languages and are core subjects through KS3 and KS4. Pupils are taught in smaller classes to provide improved teacher-pupil contact ratio and all facilitating subjects have an increased amount of curriculum time.
