Old Salvatorians

Advice on future career opportunities is provided to all students in various different ways that are appropriate to their development.

In Key Stage 3 pupils focus on life in the world of work through our and Personal Social Health Economic Education Programme.

In addition, pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4 have the opportunity to receive careers advice and guidance through our careers service and connexions programme. Pupils enjoy a curriculum experience which includes access to a variety of different professions including, business, commerce, retail, research and development.

We value continued association with our former students, many of whom make significant contributions to our school community such as attending certificates presentation evening and mentoring for our students.

Our Sixth Form partnership with St Dominic’s is well established and developing even further in the future.  We want all our pupils to follow their ambitions and aspirations when they leave Salvatorian and we aim to fully equip them to be the best all round student they possibly can be.

Leaver Destinations

Salvatorian College enjoys a long standing partnership with St Dominic’s Sixth Form College. St Dominic’s was awarded Sixth Form College of the Year for 2017 by the Sunday Times Schools Guide.

Senior leaders from St Dominics present to our Year 11 pupils in an initial assembly in September and this is followed up by a pastoral assembly and Q&A session form group later in the Autumn term. Many pupils undertake a 1-1 interview with a St Dominic’s senior leader to advise them on their options in January.

The majority of those achieving a good set of GCSE results went on to study at St Dominic’s Sixth Form College or one of the other sixth forms in the Cardinal Hume Academy Trust. Nearly all of these pupils went on to study at University.

Not all pupils continue to study A Levels and there are a number of alternative options available. We invite local college providers to present to our Year 11 pupils the options available to them. At all key option choices in Year 8 and 9 Salvatorian pupils will meet with a school leader to discuss the choices they are making.

The number of pupils who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) when they leave Salvatorian College is close to zero year on year and is significantly below the national average.

Old Salvatorians Alumni

If you have ever attended the Salvatorian College or were a teacher, you are automatically a member of the extensive Old Salvatorians network. There is a strong spirit of loyalty amongst Old Salvatorians and the association exists to strengthen ties between past pupils and teachers, current boys still at the school, parents and the local community.

A key aim of the association is for current boys to benefit from knowing their like-minded predecessors, to be inspired by their success, to be influenced by good role models and to make connections beyond school in the world of work. In particular, we hope that older experienced alumni will support younger alumni. The school is keen to connect with all its old boys to form a large, supportive and effective network.

We would also like to know how far around the world our old boys have ventured so please pass this on to your friends and contacts living abroad.

The main objectives are to:

  • Provide a forum for past pupils to maintain contact with each other
  • Provide a communication link between past pupils and the school, sharing advice on developments within both communities
  • Act as a conduit to enable past pupils to support the future development of the school should they wish via sharing of knowledge, experience and fund raising for specific projects

There is also a thriving old boys’ football club and details can be found at www.oldsalvatoriansfc.com

If you are an old boy or former teacher, we’d really like to hear from you either:
